In 1984, three hard
working brothers with a small home office and the goal of owning their
own business founded Bear Construction Company. While Nick, George and
Jim Wienold started the firm as a carpentry contractor, they quickly
realized their hard work and attention to detail frequently outpaced the
general contractors who often employed the young company. At the
encouragement of many satisfied customers, the brothers expanded the
scope of the company to focus on general contracting.
The firm concentrated
its early efforts on tenant and retail work, and its client base grew
steadily because of Bear's reputation for outstanding workmanship,
customer service and value. To accommodate the influx of work, Bear
purchased an office and warehouse located on five acres in Arlington
Heights.
The next decades saw
continued steady growth. By the early 1990's, the company had expanded
its areas of expertise to include hospitals and communication
facilities. As the firm moved into new areas of work, additional
personnel and a new, larger facility became a necessity. In 2001 the
company moved into its current 36,000-square-foot headquarters in
Rolling Meadows.
Today, Bear
Construction employs a complete staff of professionals to focus on every
aspect of construction, from estimating and project management to
accounting, safety and risk management. Additionally, the firm employs a
large team of union carpenters, laborers and
decorators experienced in all types of projects. While the company has
grown significantly since its early days, the Wienold brothers have made
it a priority to maintain the same family atmosphere they began with in
1984. That culture, where every employee has a sense of pride and
ownership in everything the company does, is what still sets Bear
Construction Company apart from its competitors today.
